About

I am a design generalist at heart, with a deep toolbox of methods. My experience has spanned across the full product design and strategy process, working end-to-end from discovery to implementation. I have a formal background in visual design and illustration, which built a strong foundation for creativity and visual craft throughout my experience.

I have worked at both small and large organizations, design agencies, innovation consulting groups, and startups. I’ve grounded my career in human-centered design practices and a curious mindset.

I have extensive experience with ethnographic user research, and believe strongly that a research-backed approach is critical to producing good design work. I've prototyped digital and physical experiences, always seeking to understand the larger system and make connections. I have unique experiences in a wide range of spaces, including civic tech, healthcare, consumer products, office furniture, sustainability, and e-commerce.

Design philosophy

Understand the larger context

Whatever product or service experience we are designing occupies only a small part of someone’s life. We should be solving real problems for them, but also need to remember the complexity outside of our control. It is often most revealing to ask someone what was happening before or after engaging with the product or service being designed.

Ground the work with real people

People are simply people. We should constantly be reframing the conversation back to their lived experience. Even as designers need to internalize organizational or business problems, our job is to continually advocate for the people we are trying to serve.

Design is an act of convening

Designers and strategists are not experts in every field we encounter, but we do have a unique ability to connect the dots across disciplines. In the best circumstances, design can be used to leverage specific expertise in intentional ways towards a unified outcome.
